smartDESIGN designed a 7,500sf Dinosaur Bar-B-Que restaurant in a dilapidated masonry and concrete building originally used for stor­age at the dawn of the local film industry. The building had been predominantly vacant for the last 25 years. The project included three additions, a new membrane roof, and the demolition of masonry ventilation shafts and load-bearing interior walls. A new covered patio was added and the interior finishes were comprised mostly of salvaged materials.
